What is Tussar Silk ?

Tussar Silk, also often referred to as ‘Wild Silk, Tassar Silk, or Tusar Silk is an exquisite thread obtained from a wide winged moth that is yellowish-brown in colour (Genus Antheraea). India is the second largest producer of Tussar silk and the exclusive producer of Indian Tussar (also known as tropical tussar), which is largely tended by tribals. Jharkhand state in India is also considered to be an epicentre of Tussar along with Malda in West Bengal, and Bhagalpur in Bihar.
